Futurist Jason Hope is Keen on Potential of Stem Cell Technology

It’s been more than 20 years since medical research scientists achieved the historic breakthrough that today is widely known as stem cells – the basic building blocks at the cellular level that have the potential to produce an entire new organ, bone, or other body parts. One man who was among the first to recognize the groundbreaking potential of stem cells is Jason Hope.

Although not a person with a medical background, Hope nevertheless is recognized as an accurate futurist who has also achieved significant success in the realm of high technology. Jason Hope now uses the significant financial resources he has earned to fund stem cell research. Hope is particularly interested in the science of anti-aging. Many diseases are the outcomes of old age.

As the human body wears on through the years, its natural immunity to a host of common diseases gets weaker. If science could help people stay younger longer, activist investor Jason Hope said, people would not only be happier but also less likely to contract a major illness (Medium).

Despite the possibly unlimited potential of stem cell technology, researchers have discovered over the past two decades that many problems remain to be solved to make this treatment viable and more applicable to other disease treatment modalities. Indeed, Jason Hope assures, stem cell science has struggled with more than a few major setbacks in recent years. There is also an element of social and political resistance to stem cell use among key groups concerned about ethics and morality.

That’s to be expected, Hope said. Every breakthrough in technology across all fields has presented as many challenges as it has promised benefits. Nuclear energy is just one example. It provides cheap, low-pollution energy but also delivers massive destructive potential. Jason Hope believes, however, that the promise of stem cell treatment may be among the most beneficial advancements to humankind in modern history.
